Speech and Language Therapy Assistant
Hello, my name is Jenny, I’m a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant here at Language Box. I studied a degree in English Language and Linguistics and had a particular interest in language acquisition and speech sounds of English. I have since been working within the NHS and really enjoy being part of a wide network of people striving to deliver excellent care across the system.
Something that I love about Speech and Language Therapy is the diverse nature means it’s extremely interesting, there’s always something new to learn and the activities allow for fun whilst working together. I enjoy working with clients and families towards a shared goal, that enables them to break down barriers to communication and lead to significant improvements for them and their lives.

Hi, I’m Emma, a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant at Language Box. I am a graduate in BA English Language and Linguistics from the University of Leeds. I have lots of experience working within school environments, both primary and secondary. I have worked in a primary school setting supporting children who have various special educational needs.
I love supporting children who are accessing speech and language therapy programmes, seeing their confidence flourish as their skills progress. Whilst working with secondary aged pupils, I’ve supported their literacy and reading skills, as well as working with bilingual pupils. Additionally, I volunteer with a charity aimed at restoring speech. I work with adults who may have aphasia as a result of a stroke or head injury. I run sessions with computer therapy programmes, focused on helping individuals to regaining their speech, language and confidence.
Through both my work and voluntary experience, I’ve developed a keen interest and passion for speech therapy. I am motivated to support young people in reaching their potential, as well as supporting their individual needs to help them succeed in all aspects of life.
I am currently in the process of completing my Masters Degree to become a fully qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
Hello, I’m Lynda, a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant here at Language Box. I have a degree in English with Psychology and have always been interested in linguistics and language development. I worked for 12 years as a primary school teacher and now use my skills, knowledge and experience to support the children, families, and schools that we work with.
Something I have a keen interest and breadth of experience in providing phonological activities to children through my work in schools, early years settings and in my role as a one-to-one private tutor. I love watching those lightbulb moments, as they gain more and more confidence after each session.
I always aim to make my sessions fun by providing creative, practical and engaging activities! I have additional training in Makaton, which is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs & speech to support communication skills, and use this regularly in Speech and Language Therapy sessions.
